Casino shooting in Reno, Nevada, in the middle of Monday

Authorities have confirmed two dead Monday morning, July 28, 2025, following a police-involved shooting at the valet entrance of the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino, one of the premier hotels in Reno, Nevada. As reported by the Reno Police Department spokesperson, at least 5 people were also injured, although their current condition has not yet been disclosed.

The shooting at this casino caused a strong mobilization of emergency services in the area, with the arrival of ambulances, patrol cars and tactical teams. The authorities ordered the perimeter to be closed and asked the public to avoid the area while the corresponding investigations were being carried out.

Devon Reese, a Reno city councilman, expressed his regret on social media.

“Tragically lives were lost this morning in Reno in yet another senseless act of gun violence.”

Police spokesman Chris Johnson confirmed that the suspect in the shooting at this casino, an adult male, was arrested at the scene and transported to a hospital.

His health condition was not disclosed at the time of the last news release.

In addition, it has been confirmed that an officer was directly involved in the shooting, which could indicate that gunfire was exchanged.
