The Chicago Bulls will retire the jersey of American point guard Derrick Rose on January 24, 2026, during a ceremony following their NBA game at the United Center against the Boston Celtics, the Illinois franchise announced Thursday.

“The Chicago Bulls will retire Derrick Rose’s No. 1 jersey on Jan. 24, 2026 in a post-game on-court ceremony when the team hosts the Boston Celtics. The celebrations will include an atrium experience at the United Center,” it said in a statement.

Rose announced last September his retirement from the NBA after 16 seasons in the league, and was honored in January by the Bulls, who selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 draft.

A prolific scorer thanks to his physical attributes, the point guard spent eight years in Chicago, where he was named NBA MVP in 2011 and became one of the best players in franchise history.

Derrick Rose’s jersey with the number ‘1’ will be the fifth by a Bulls player to hang at the United Center.

Before him, Jerry Sloan’s 4, Bob Love’s 10, Michael Jordan’s 23 and Scottie Pippen’s 33 received that honor, according to information from EFE.
