For the second consecutive year and with a sweep of four wins in as many starts, the Los Angeles Dodgers qualified for the MLB World Series on Friday at the expense of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The newly crowned champions of the National League will be looking for the two-time championship of the Fall Classic on October 24 against the winner of the series between the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays, with the former leading 3-2. As in the previous three games, the Angelinas gave their rivals no margin for reaction today, defeating them 5-1 at Dodger Stadium with an authentic recital by Japan’s Shohei Ohtani, who hit three home runs.

Ohtani, who was chosen Most Valuable Player of the MLB Championship Series, blasted the ball over the right-field wall against Colombian José Quintana’s delivery.

He went back on the attack in the fourth inning with another home run against the helplessness of reliever Chad Patrick.

And he repeated the achievement in the seventh act under the watchful eye of Trevor Megill from the mound.

With his three home runs, Ohtani is the 12th to do so in a postseason game in MLB history.

Among others, Puerto Rico’s Kiké Hernández, Dominicans Albert Pujols and Adrián Beltré and Venezuelans José Altuve and Pablo Sandoval have already achieved this feat.

From the mound, Ohtani worked six innings in which he allowed just three hits, gave up three walks and struck out 10.

The Dodgers limited the Brewers to just four runs in the four-game, best-of-seven series.

Quintana (0-1) allowed three runs in two innings and lost the game for the Brewers.

And he drove in five runs in the Mariners’ exhibition, who are now 3-2 and one win away from clinching the American League Championship and sealing their ticket to the MLB World Series in the process.

Suárez hit a home run in the second inning to open the scoring and then hit his grand slam.

Four-run producer that broke a tie in the eighth inning of the game at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park.

Prior to Suarez’s winning hit, Cal Raleigh knocked the ball out of the park to even the score for the Mariners.

Cuban Randy Arozarena, who scored a run for Seattle, robbed Ernie Clement of what would become a home run in the top of the eighth inning, jumping up and grabbing the ball that was headed over the left field wall.

Gabe Speier (1-0) tossed a scoreless chapter to earn the win for the Mariners.

The loss went to Brendon Little (0-1), who allowed three hits without retiring any of the batters he faced.

The Mariners and Blue Jays will meet this Sunday in Game 6 of the MLB series, to be played at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
