After a grueling 17-hour hearing at the Reclusorio Oriente, singer Christian Nodal finally came out before the media to talk about the legal process that pitted him against Universal Music, a record label that since 2021 has accused him and his parents of alleged document forgery and fraud.
The day, which lasted almost a full day, ended with the news that the artist and his family had been waiting for years: they were not indicted.
Nodal, visibly exhausted but relieved, appeared accompanied by his parents, Cristy Nodal and Jaime González, to confirm what the court had determined: “It was a very long day… We have been here for 17 hours. It was worth it. We were not bound over for trial”.
According to the singer, the judge concluded that there was no element that would justify taking them to trial, completely dismissing the accusations of forgery.

“There is not even a single piece of paper to justify that we have forged any documents,” he stated firmly.
The decision represents a significant blow to the record label, which kept the case active for four years and insisted that documents filed by Nodal and his family had irregularities.
Although Nodal expressed gratitude for the stage of his career that he lived under the Universal Music label, he also made it clear that he considers the actions taken against him unfair: “If they wanted an artist of my caliber, they should make a dignified and respectful contract”.
His words reflected a mixture of gratitude and annoyance, always maintaining a conciliatory tone, but without ceasing to denounce what he considers to be inappropriate behavior on the part of the company.
Christian Nodal: Criminal chapter ends, but civil battle continues
Despite having been released from criminal proceedings, the interpreter of Bottle after bottle stressed that the legal conflict is not over yet: “This is still going on. We still have a civil lawsuit… I trust in justice. Everything falls under its own weight”.
As he explained, Universal had tried to transfer the civil dispute to the criminal arena, seeking a more severe prosecution against him and his family.
One of the most emotional moments of the statement occurred when Nodal spoke of the emotional damage that this whole process caused to his parents: “It has been a shame to dirty my parents’ last name. I can bear it, but for them it has been difficult. This clears the name”.
The legal dispute began at the end of 2021, when Nodal decided to terminate his working relationship with Universal Music. The label argued that it had rights to part of the artist’s catalog, while Nodal and his parents presented documents to prove otherwise. Considering that the documents were altered, the company initiated a lawsuit that was brought to court in September 2025, leading the singer to even change lawyers before his arraignment.

Upon leaving the prison, Nodal took advantage of the moment to send a warning to young musicians: “What I can tell the independent kids is that they should take care of what they sign. These are things that happen in the industry”.
He also reiterated his respect for the label, but insisted that he will continue to defend what he considers his own: the rights to his songs.
Finally, Nodal thanked the unconditional support of his family and his close circle, who accompanied him in one of the most exhausting processes of his career. Although the legal battle continues in civil proceedings, the singer celebrated a significant victory that, for now, gives him peace of mind and clears his family’s name.
With this resolution, Christian Nodal takes an important step to close one of the most tense chapters of his professional and personal life.
