New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye said Thursday that he will not lose his dream of being in Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks because of his right shoulder injury.

“We know it’s what we dreamed of since we were kids, we wanted to watch the Super Bowl, be at the Super Bowl party, and now we’re the party. That’s great. It’s the game you dream of playing, so I’m not going to miss the opportunity to play in it,” said the 23-year-old quarterback.

Injury set off alarm bells

Drake Maye was injured prior to last Sunday’s American Conference championship game in which the Pats defeated the Denver Broncos.

The young passer appeared last Wednesday on the team’s injury report.

But on Thursday, Maye said he felt comfortable during practice and saw the team doctor, who confirmed that he is on the road to recovery.

“I’m feeling good. I moved around quite a bit today, then I saw the doctors and now I’m doing everything I can to be 100 percent.”

“Like I said, this is the game you dream of playing and I will do everything in my power to be there,” he reiterated.

The two-time Pro Bowl player pointed out that the two-week recovery period between the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8 will be critical.

Total confidence in Maye

“Having two weeks off is good to get a little more rest and be ready to face the Seahawks in the best shape possible.”

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to training and getting reps to keep me in rhythm,” Drake Maye stressed.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel was also confident that his starting quarterback will be ready for the game as they look to win Lombardi Trophy number seven in franchise history.

“I try not to worry too much. I just want to prepare the team and make sure everyone is ready.”

“We will plan these weeks without looking at the end, we will focus on what we can do today, I am confident we will be healthy,” Vrabel explained.

The New England Patriots will travel next Sunday to San Francisco, California, for their final week of preparation for Super Bowl LX, which they will play on February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
