Fernando Tatis Jr. is going through one of the most complicated moments of his MLB offensive career. The Dominican star of the San Diego Padres has accumulated a troubling streak of 207 at-bats without a home run, a figure that is already generating debate among fans, analysts and Major League Baseball followers.
The last time Tatis Jr. disappeared the ball was on September 27, 2025 during a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. That night, the Dominican homered in the first inning of San Diego’s 5-1 victory. Since then, the offensive power that normally characterizes the outfielder has disappeared. Not counting the most recent game against the Philadelphia Phillies, the San Pedro de Macorís-born outfielder accumulated 207 consecutive innings without hitting the ball out of the park. Of that number, 192 correspond to the current 2026 season and the other 15 are part of last season’s closing.

The situation is starting to attract attention because Fernando Tatis Jr. is considered one of the most explosive hitters in MLB.
His combination of power, speed and offensive ability made him one of the main faces of the Padres and Latin baseball for years.
However, this is not the first time he has faced a similar rough patch.
During the 2025 season, the Dominican also went through a difficult period in which he accumulated 132 consecutive innings without a home run between July and August.
So far, Tatis Jr. is batting .255 through his first 52 games of the current campaign.
In that stretch he totaled 49 hits, including six doubles and a triple, in addition to 13 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
While the offensive numbers are not disastrous, the lack of homers does represent a major issue considering the role he plays in San Diego’s lineup.

Despite the power drought, the Dominican continues to contribute in different areas of the game.
In his last 157 MLB games, Fernando Tatis Jr. has 153 hits, 26 doubles, two triples and 13 homers.
In addition to 60 runs batted in and 93 runs scored.
He also maintains a significant threat on the bases thanks to his 37 steals during that period.
The Padres’ handling of the Dominican in the lineup has also varied during the season.
He has been used primarily as a first and second bat, although he has also made appearances in other positions in the offensive order.
