This Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Fort Stewart, located about 40 miles (64 km) southwest of Savannah, Georgia, went into partial lockdown following reports of an active shooter, military spokesman Lt. Col. Angel Tomko confirmed.
Fort Stewart is the largest U.S. Army base east of the Mississippi River, home to thousands of 3rd Infantry Division soldiers and their families.
Security measures implemented

Angel Tomko indicated that it is not yet known if there are any injuries or deaths, as the situation was under evaluation at the time of going to press (See video here).
Military authorities ordered all personnel in the affected areas to:
