Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny will be recognized as ‘Artist of the 21st Century’ at the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2025 to be held in Miami on October 23, announced Thursday the Telemundo network and the organization of the award.
The recognition celebrates the Puerto Rican artist’s historic dominance of Billboard’s Top Latin Albums and Hot Latin Songs charts over the past 25 years, with multiple albums and multi-platinum singles that have broken records and redefined the standards of success in Latin music, according to a statement.
“Bad Bunny’s recognition as Billboard Latin Artist of the 21st Century is cemented by his unprecedented dominance of the Billboard charts over the past 25 years,” the statement said.
Leadership ranges from multiple songs debuting simultaneously at the top of the charts to album releases that took center stage in the global conversation, including chart performance, setting a new standard for Latin music.
Bad Bunny superior to Shakira in the Latin arena?

Billboard and Telemundo highlight that beyond his musical career, Bad Bunny has expanded his influence into film, fashion and pop culture.
The singer was the first Spanish-speaking artist to headline Coachella, and the global broadcast of his latest Puerto Rico residency show, ‘No me quiero ir de aquí’, became the most-watched single-artist performance in Amazon Music history.
He also has the highest-grossing tour in a single year and has been the most listened to artist on Spotify worldwide for three consecutive years.
Bad Bunny will also make history by performing at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show, becoming the first solo Latin artist to headline one of the most watched shows in the world.
“Whether on stage, on screen or in the streets, his innovative projects and uncompromising individuality have placed Bad Bunny at the center of global culture, cementing his place in history,” the release stressed.
His cultural impact was also reflected in his recent Billboard cover and in 13 international editions of the magazine.
The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on Thursday, October 23 on Telemundo, reported Agencia EFE.
