Mexico’s Women’s National Team thrashed the U.S. Virgin Islands 9-0 on Friday to take the lead in Group A of the CONCACAF qualifiers for the Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.
In Zacatecas, north-central Mexico, El Tri, under Spanish coach Pedro Lopez, put together an offensive carnival with four goals from Maria Sanchez, two from Charlyn Corral, one from Kimberly Rodriguez, one from Scarlett Camberos and one from Kiana Palacios.
Total domination by El Tri

The match was a very one-sided affair between a team of professionals from Mexico and a team from the Virgin Islands with some university players.
Only 14 players were able to complete the commitment.
In the first half, Sanchez scored with a left-footed shot into the corner in the 5th minute, Corral with a header in the 9th minute and Sanchez with a left-footed shot in the 19th minute.
Corral, on a penalty kick in the 25th minute, and Kimberly Rodriguez, with a header, in the 29th minute.

The second half was a different story, with the Mexicans seemingly content with the scoreline and only adding one more goal, from Palacios, with a right-footed strike in the 82nd minute.
Mexico reached three wins in three outings with 30 goals scored and none conceded.
It leads the group ahead of Puerto Rico, also with three wins and nine points.
Next come the Virgin Islands, with three points; St. Lucia, with three losses in three games; and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with two losses in two outings.
On April 18, Mexico will face Puerto Rico in Toluca, with everything in its favor to qualify for the final.
