A Mexican mother and her four U.S.-born children were left terrified after immigration agents burst into their New York home and pointed guns at them without showing a warrant, according to local press.
The agents, who never identified themselves, were looking for Jennifer’s 33-year-old cousin, who has not lived with the family for two years. No details have been released if her cousin is in any criminal or administrative immigration proceedings.

After forcing their way into the apartment, they dragged the woman by her hair and pointed a rifle at her 13-year-old daughter, the woman told The City newspaper.
“ICE is an out-of-control agency that is illegally terrorizing New Yorkers,” New York Immigration Coalition executive director Murad Awawdeh, who released the video of the raid on his X, stated on X.
The video released shows armed agents in tactical gear entering the home with flashlights in hand in the early hours of Thursday, November 13, while the family was still asleep.
Immediately the officer is heard saying “put your fucking hands up, stupid”, according to the video made by Jennifer, whose cell phone is soon after snatched away.
The woman is also heard saying, “I have my baby, I have my children. what the hell?”, referring to her children aged 13, 10, 6 and two. “Don’t touch me,” the mother further told the officer.
According to what the woman told The City, the agents banged on doors and windows for half an hour and shouted for them to open the door.
“I didn’t open up, my children were terrified. I didn’t know what to tell them,” argued Jennifer, whose husband was working when the raid occurred.
The neighbors believed it was a robbery and called the police, who after talking to the officers left the scene.
The agents asked about his cousin and also if the children were undocumented.
The woman responded that they were born in the U.S., after which they threatened to call the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) and deport her if she did not cooperate.
Under that threat, she was forced to call her cousin, who agreed to turn himself in to immigration authorities at the apartment the following week.
Experts and civil rights organizations have denounced that ICE has detained people in similar situations, separating families even when the children are U.S. citizens.
“The family is traumatized, the children are afraid to leave their mother to go to school,” Murad further stated.
“No child should be the victim of such illegal and heartless behavior. The Trump administration must end its war on immigrants,” he added.
