Immigrants or aliens? White House releases controversial Star Wars-style arrest map

Entre la sátira y el control: El nuevo mapa del gobierno que ve "aliens" en las calles

In a jaw-dropping move for activists and political analysts, the White House has decided to use acid humor and science fiction to address the immigration crisis.

Under the title “Aliens”, Extraterrestrials in Spanish, the new White House website presents an interactive map of arrests with an aesthetic that seems to mock conspiracy theories about space, but has a much cruder undertone: the public exposure of millions of arrests.

“They walk among us”: An official satire

Upon entering the site, the user is greeted by a Star Wars-style floating text, while stars fall in the background.

The narrative plays with the double meaning of the word alien (foreign/extraterrestrial).

“For 60 years, the government has kept a secret…aliens have been living in our neighborhoods, shopping in our stores and interacting with us.”

What looks like a Hollywood movie promo is actually the database of 3.1 million border “encounters”.

The real-time counter shows a steadily rising figure, presumably linked to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reports covering the period from the end of 2024 to April 2026.

Hoax or transparency strategy?

The site’s cover shows the silhouette of an extraterrestrial walking through the desert, an image that seeks to ridicule the idea that the country hides space secrets, but that for many is a dehumanization of the migrant.

By comparing people seeking refuge to beings from another planet, the Trump administration reinforces an “invasion” narrative under a pop culture wrapper.

The map does not detail names, but it does show the areas with the highest incidence, making it a visualization tool for the “zero tolerance” policy.

While the White House defends this portal as a “creative” way to inform the public, civil rights organizations warn that this type of communication only fuels racism and division in an already polarized country.
