Director Oliver Stone has begun work on his first drama film in a decade, which will be titled ‘White Lies’ and star Josh Hartnett, reports Deadline.
“After almost ten years away from filmmaking, I feel like I’m really starting over, like when I did ‘Platoon’ and ‘Salvador’ in 1986. ‘White Lies’ will find its natural place, because it’s a timeless love story,” the three-time Oscar winner told the publication.

Also known for films such as ‘Natural Born Killers’ and ‘Born on the Fourth of July,’ Stone delves into an intimate work that explores “family, loss and grief, and how love can change shape over the course of our lives,” according to the media outlet.
Hartnett (‘Oppenheimer’) will play Jack Freeman, a man who repeats with his children the mistakes of his divorced parents in his own marriage and embarks on an exciting journey where he meets a woman with a life completely opposite to his own and begins an unexpected journey of self-discovery.
“In ‘White Lies,’ Oliver explores a universe that feels personal and features all-new material from a filmmaker I’ve long admired and am excited to work with,” said Harnett.
Principal shooting has already begun and is taking place in various locations such as Rome (Italy), Bangkok (Thailand) and Sofia (Bulgaria).

Stone’s last narrative feature was ‘Snowden’ (2016), starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Subsequently, the director focused on documentaries and television. His most recent project is the documentary ‘Lula’ (2024), co-directed with Rob Wilson, which follows the career of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as he returns to the presidency of Brazil.
Meanwhile, Hartnett will star in ‘Verity’, alongside Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, written by Colleen Hoover, reported Agencia EFE.
