Juanes and Los Bukis, among the honorees at ‘Premio Lo Nuestro

Arcángel, Juanes, Los Bukis, Manolo Díaz and Paloma San Basilio will receive special awards during the ‘Premio lo nuestro’ gala, a show that will recognize the best of Latin music on February 19 in Miami, TelevisaUnivision announced Monday.

This will be the first time that the Spanish-language network presents these awards, which pay tribute to the career and legacy of Latin music figures.

Arcángel will be recognized with the ‘Lo Nuestro Icono Urbano Award’ for being “one of the fundamental figures in the history and evolution of urban music,” the channel said in a statement.

The American singer, whose “unmistakable voice, authentic style and artistic vision” is also nominated in four categories of the ‘Lo Nuestro 2026 Award’, including best male artist of the year in the urban genre.

Juanes will receive the ‘Premio lo nuestro a la trayectoria’, in honor of a career “marked by authenticity, constant evolution and a deep connection with his roots”.

The Colombian singer, author of hits such as ‘La camisa negra’ and ‘A Dios le pido’, has captivated several generations with his music while transmitting messages of identity, sensitivity and social awareness to the world, according to the network.

Juanes has two nominations at this year’s gala.

The ‘Lo Nuestro Legado Musical Award’ will go to the Mexican band ‘Los Bukis’, whose music “has accompanied entire generations and forms an essential part of the emotional heritage of Latin music”.

The icons of the romantic ballad have nine ‘Premios lo nuestro’.

The fourth special award, known as the ‘Premio Visionario de lo Nuestro’, will honor maestro Manolo Díaz, considered by TelevisaUnivision “a key figure behind countless careers, songs and moments that marked the history of Latin music.

“His creative eye, artistic intuition and commitment to developing talent have left a profound mark on the industry, making him one of the great architects of the sound that defines Spanish-language music,” the statement added about the Spanish composer.

Finally, Paloma San Basilio will receive the ‘Lo Nuestro Award for Excellence’ for a career spanning more than five decades during which she has sold more than 16 million records, thanks to “an unmistakable voice that has marked the history of music in Spanish”.

The star of musicals such as ‘Evita’, ‘Sunset Boulevard’ and ‘My Fair Lady’ has established herself as a fundamental and timeless artist, according to the television network, reported Agencia EFE.
