Julio Iglesias has hired the lawyer José Antonio Choclán to deal with the complaint of sexual abuse filed by two former employees of his houses in the Caribbean, as confirmed Thursday to EFE legal sources.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the National Court of Spain will take testimony as protected witnesses to the two women who on January 5 denounced, represented by the organization Women’s Link, cases of sexual harassment and assault in 2021 by the singer.

The events allegedly occurred at Julio Iglesias’ homes in the Dominican Republic, Bahamas and Spain.
One of the women was a domestic worker and the other a physiotherapist, according to an investigation by the Spanish digital media elDiario.es and the U.S. channel Univision.
As this is an investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which has not yet been brought to court and remains secret, the lawyer cannot participate in the proceedings for the time being.
The Prosecutor’s Office has six months to decide whether to file the case or file a complaint with the Audiencia Nacional.
The Choclán law firm, headquartered in Madrid, has been involved in several high-profile cases, including the case against Carlos Iglesias, the singer’s brother, for tax fraud.
Choclán also defended Cristiano Ronaldo in the tax fraud trial and soccer players Gabi Fernández and Ángel Lafita in the trial for allegedly fixing the Levante-Zaragoza match in 2011.
He also defends or has defended several Spanish politicians in corruption cases such as the former mayor of Valencia Rita Barberá or currently one of the defendants in the so-called ‘Koldo case’, which affects people who were close to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.
Since the revelation of the accusations following the investigation by eldiario.es and Univisión Noticias, last Tuesday, the singer has not wanted to make statements to the media and has limited himself to tell the magazine ‘Hola’ that everything will be clarified.
