LAFC (Los Angeles FC) is having a tough time in the 2026 MLS season. Despite their recent qualification to the semifinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup after eliminating Cruz Azul, the Los Angeles team has failed to translate that momentum to the domestic tournament. Their most recent result, a goalless draw against Colorado Rapids at BMO Stadium, once again set off alarm bells.

The team coached by Marc Dos Santos showed a subdued version, lacking clarity in attack and with serious difficulties to generate real danger. In front of their fans, LAFC failed to impose conditions or make a difference against an opponent that was able to contain their offensive attempts.

LAFC’s 2026 MLS season opener had generated high expectations among fans.

Especially in cities with a strong Latino presence such as Los Angeles, where the club has broad support from the Hispanic community.

However, the current reality is different.

Prior to the draw against Colorado, LAFC was coming off a loss to Portland Timbers and a drubbing against San Jose Earthquakes.

Results that show a drop in collective performance.

The lack of consistency is starting to be a real concern for the coaching staff and supporters.

Lack of goals, the big problem

One of the most critical points of the team is the lack of offensive forcefulness.

The most striking case at LAFC is that of Son, who has yet to score in MLS 2026, an unexpected situation considering his level and trajectory.

The lack of goals not only limits results, but also affects the team’s confidence at key moments.

Against Colorado, LAFC had possession for stretches of the match, but lacked depth and accuracy in the final third of the field.

The calendar gives no respite.

LAFC will be looking to get back to winning ways in their next game against Minnesota United, a key match to regain sensations in MLS 2026.

In addition, the team has an important international challenge on the horizon: the series against Toluca in the Concacaf Champions Cup.

This tournament could become a way to regain confidence and rediscover his best version.
