Born in Guadalajara in 1985, Guillermo Ochoa made his professional debut at the age of 18 with Club América, the team where he was formed and to which he returned after his time in Europe.

From his first matches, he showed impressive reflexes and an innate ability to make spectacular saves.

His rapid rise in Liga MX led him to the National Team, where he made his debut in 2005.

Since then, he has been a fixed name in El Tri’s call-ups, establishing himself as Mexico’s most reliable goalkeeper.

If anything has made Memo Ochoa a mythical figure, it is his performance in the World Cups.

His interventions under the three posts have been memorable, earning him the respect of the entire world.

Brazil 2014: The historic performance against Brazil, where he saved a Neymar header and multiple shots, earned him comparisons to Gordon Banks’ legendary save against Pelé.

Russia 2018: His game against Germany, where he made nine key saves, was fundamental to Mexico’s historic victory over the Teutons.

Qatar 2022: He shone again, saving a penalty kick from Robert Lewandowski, showing that, at 37 years of age, he is still an elite goalkeeper.

The goalkeeper has participated in five World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014, 2014, 2018 and 2022), joining the exclusive group of players with the most World Cups in history.
