The Mexican National Team, under the direction of Javier Aguirre, has presented its 59-man roster for the 2025 Gold Cup, to be played from June 14 to July 6 in the United States and Canada. This preliminary call-up seeks to define the team that will represent the country in the CONCACAF tournament, and will also serve for the friendlies against Switzerland and Turkey at the beginning of June.
The list includes established players such as Guillermo Ochoa (AVS/Portugal), Edson Álvarez (West Ham/England), Santiago Giménez (Milan/Italy) and Hirving Lozano (San Diego FC/USA), as well as promising young players such as Marcel Ruiz, Mateo Chávez and Stephano Carrillo.
Notable absences and challenges for Aguirre

One of the most relevant complications for the Mexican National Team is the absence of players from Mexican teams.
Those that will participate in the 2025 Club World Cup, such as Pachuca and Monterrey.
This situation left out players such as Erick Sanchez and Jesus Gallardo, regulars in previous call-ups.

Also noteworthy is the exclusion of Rodrigo Huescas (Copenhagen/Denmark), due to disciplinary problems with his club.
These factors force the coaching staff to carefully observe the performance of less experienced players during preparation matches.
High-level friendlies

The Mexican National Team will have two important tests before the tournament:
It will face Switzerland and Turkey in the first week of June.
These matches will allow Aguirre to evaluate the performance of the group and define the final list of 23 players.
El Tri will make its Gold Cup debut on June 14 against the Dominican Republic.
They will play against Suriname on the 18th and will close the group stage on the 22nd against Costa Rica.
The objective is clear: to qualify as leader of Group A and seek the championship.
This is a key preparation tournament for the 2026 World Cup, where Mexico will be one of the host countries.
