After the first two rounds of the Liga MX Apertura 2025, two teams have emerged as the only ones with a perfect record: Toluca and Pachuca.

Both have six points from two games, although defending champion Toluca leads the table thanks to its superior goal difference.

Toluca shows why it is the champion

Coached by the Argentine Antonio “Turco” Mohamed, the Diablos Rojos del Toluca began the defense of their title with two resounding victories.

The most recent, last Wednesday, was a spectacular 2-4 away win over Santos Laguna, demonstrating great offensive solidity and reaction capacity.

With six goals scored in two games, Toluca also leads in offensive power, generating high expectations among its fans and Latino supporters in the US.

Pachuca also wins, but with fewer goals

In second place is Pachuca, also with six points, after beating Pumas UNAM 3-1 on Sunday.

The victory was built on goals by Alan Bautista, Venezuelan Jhonder Cádiz and Argentine Gastón Togni.

Although their goal difference is smaller, the Tuzos show a solid project, with a mix of youth and foreign experience.

Club América, under Brazilian coach André Jardine, defeated Xolos de Tijuana 3-1 on Wednesday with Uruguayan protagonists: a brace from Brian Rodríguez and a goal from Rodrigo Aguirre.

With this result, the Eagles moved into third place with 4 points.

With the same number of points are Atlas, who tied 3-3 with Cruz Azul in a vibrant duel with goals from Eduardo Aguirre, Paraguay’s Diego González and Brazil’s Matheus Doria.

And León, which defeated Guadalajara 1-0 with a penalty kick well taken by Colombian James Rodríguez.

Tigres debuts with Ángel Correa and wins

Argentine world champion Ángel Correa made his debut with Tigres in the tournament, participating in the 1-0 victory over Juárez.

Although he is still adapting to the pace of Liga MX, his presence has raised the expectations of the Monterrey club.

Necaxa, coached by Argentine Fernando Gago, achieved its first win: 3-1 over Querétaro, moving up to eighth place.

Monterrey defeated Atlético de San Luis by the minimum (0-1) and is positioned in the middle of the table.

Cruz Azul, despite the draw against Atlas, showed offensive power with three goals and promises a competitive tournament.
