Fans of The Beatles around the world received news that quickly generated excitement on social networks and music platforms, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr released “Home to us”, the first official duet between the two musicians in their entire career.

Although the two British legends have collaborated on various occasions over the past few decades, this is the first time they have performed a song specifically constructed as a shared duet. The track is part of McCartney’s forthcoming album, titled The boys of Dungeon Lane, which is scheduled for release on May 29. The song has a strong nostalgic and emotional component. As Paul McCartney explained, the inspiration was born from the childhood memories he and Ringo Starr shared in Liverpool, the city that marked the origin of The Beatles and transformed the history of modern music.

Paul McCartney revealed that the creative process began at Abbey Road Studios, a place deeply linked to The Beatles’ legacy, as there, Ringo Starr initially recorded the drums while Paul worked on the structure of the song.

However, the collaboration came close to not becoming a true duet.

Paul McCartney explained that Ringo Starr initially understood that he should only participate in a few lines of the chorus.

So he sent a limited version of his vocal participation.

“I thought maybe he didn’t like it,” McCartney commented as he recalled the moment.

After speaking directly with Ringo, the two cleared up the misunderstanding and decided to record the entire song together.

Alternating verses and creating a format they had never done before.

The production also features female vocals by Chrissie Hynde and Sharleen Spiteri.

They participated in the chorus to give a warmer and more emotional tone to the single.
