A legacy of humility and social commitment

Pope Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, was the first Latin American and Jesuit pontiff.
His papacy, begun in 2013, was characterized by a pastoral focus on the poor and marginalized, as well as significant reforms within the Catholic Church.
A few weeks ago he was in very delicate health, hospitalized almost all of February and part of March, but miraculously he managed to get out and spend Easter week, until his body could not take it anymore.
Global reactions to his death

World leaders, including Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum, expressed their sorrow at the death of Pope Francis, highlighting his legacy of love for others and his commitment to social justice.
Other presidents such as Donald Trump expressed their sorrow at the passing of the Supreme Pontiff who sent condolences saying ‘God bless him.’

The body of Pope Francis will be exposed in St. Peter’s Square starting Wednesday, allowing the faithful to pay homage.
Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell will temporarily assume the administration of the Vatican until the conclave to elect the new pontiff.
Pope Francis’ departure leaves a significant void in the Catholic Church, but his legacy of humility, compassion and commitment to those most in need will live on in the collective memory.
