Selena Gomez, one of the most influential figures in global entertainment, has taken a firm step in her social commitment by promoting free therapy sessions aimed at immigrant communities in the United States.

Through her brand Rare Beauty, the artist seeks to address the anxiety, stress and emotional trauma that have arisen as a result of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations during 2026. The initiative was officially announced on January 27 and has already benefited hundreds of families through professional and accessible resources.

Born in Texas on July 22, 1992, Selena Gomez is the daughter of Ricardo Joel Gomez, of Mexican descent, and Mandy Teefey. Since she was a child, the singer has maintained a close bond with her Hispanic heritage, spending significant time with her paternal family and strengthening a cultural identity that has marked both her artistic career and her public stance on social issues.

That connection has been reflected in projects such as her Spanish-language EP Revelación (2021) and her participation in high-profile film productions such as Emilia Perez, a film that was recognized with a Golden Globe in 2025. For Selena, representation and empathy towards the Latino community has been constant throughout her career.

On January 27, 2026, a video originally recorded in January 2025, in which Selena appears visibly affected when talking about the situation of migrant communities, was re-circulated. In the clip, initially shared on Instagram Stories and deleted shortly thereafter, the singer expresses in tears her pain over the raids and the impact they have on families and children.

Although the video was criticized at the time, it also generated a wave of support on social networks, where millions of users highlighted its sensitivity and its forward-looking stance in the face of a crisis that, they say, is even more visible today.

Selena’s support is channeled through Rare Beauty and the Rare Impact Fund, an initiative created in 2020 that allocates 1% of the brand’s sales to global mental health programs. At the end of January 2026, the company announced the opening of free virtual sessions via Zoom, taught by certified therapists, focused on providing emotional tools in the face of the fear, uncertainty and stress caused by the raids.

In addition to therapy, community support lines, information guides in Spanish and English and continuous support networks for affected families have been made available.

A message of hope in difficult times

Selena Gomez participated directly in one of the virtual meetings, known as “Rare Chat”, on January 29, where she shared a message of encouragement and stressed the importance of taking care of mental health in contexts of forced migration and constant fear. “I pray for a little hope,” he said, reiterating that emotional well-being must be a priority.

Since the beginning of the mass raids in 2025, the singer has maintained a critical stance against deportation policies that separate families. In 2026, her message is reinforced with concrete actions. “In difficult times, protecting mental health is also a form of resistance,” Rare Beauty said, cementing the social impact of the brand and its founder.
