Selena Gomez is once again highlighting her Latin roots with a powerful campaign for Rare Beauty, her successful cosmetics brand. The artist presented an initiative that seeks to highlight the diversity of the Latin American community and demonstrate that there is no one way to be Latina.
The campaign, launched on May 11, accompanies the launch of the new True to Myself Natural Matte Longwear Foundation, available in 48 different shades. To illustrate the breadth of nuances and identities within Latin America, the brand brought together 48 women, each representing one of the shades in the collection.

Selena explained that this project exactly reflects the vision she had when she founded Rare Beauty.
“Seeing such a broad spectrum of skin tones and identities represented in such an intentional way is everything I dreamed of when I started Rare Beauty,” the singer expressed.
The photo shoot was attended by content creators such as Desi Perkins, Monica Veloz y Mikayla Nogueiraand was portrayed by Chicano-Costa Rican photographer Brittany Bravo.
Selena’s paternal grandparents emigrated from Monterrey to Texas in the 1970s, and the artist has spoken on numerous occasions about the importance of her cultural heritage.
Even its name is a tribute to Selena Quintanillaone of the most influential figures in Latin music.
“What I’m most proud of is our resiliency and complexity,” said the star of Only Murders in the Building. “I’m proud that being Latina can mean so many different things and that those differences are something to celebrate.”
More than makeup

For Selena, this campaign transcends the world of beauty.
“It’s not just about makeup. It’s about that feeling of seeing yourself reflected in the media and the advertising that we all consume,” she noted.
The entrepreneur explained that during her youth she did not always feel represented in the industry, so today she seeks to offer new generations a space where they can embrace their individuality.
Selena concluded with an inspirational message to her followers.
“I want young people to recognize the power in their individuality instead of comparing themselves to others. Our differences are what make us beautiful.”
