Singer Shakira is in her native Barranquilla recording a music video with urban and afrobeats artist Beéle, who is also a native of this northern Colombian city.
Beéle posted on his social networks a video in which the two appear on the hood of an old bus. He, wearing a cap that reads “the ponytail will set us free”, tells Shakira “I’m here with my ponytail”, while she puts on her makeup and waves to the camera.

The term “coleto”, which previously had a negative connotation referring to a poorly-dressed and vice-ridden person, has acquired a more positive meaning in the context of urban music, referring to an authentic, popular and enterprising person.

The two barranquilleros, who a few months ago made a new version of the song “Baila la calle”, with the British Ed Sheeran, appear in different parts of the city, according to videos posted on social networks.
The first to announce the presence of Shakira and Beéle in the city was Mayor Alejandro Char, who posted on his Instagram account the meeting in Barrio Abajo, a traditional sector considered the largest open-air museum in the world, thanks to an ambitious street art and mural project.

Hours earlier the two artists had recorded images on the Malecon, a linear park on the banks of the Magdalena River that is one of the city’s main tourist attractions and public spaces, where the 6.5-meter statue in honor of Shakira is located.
Shakira’s arrival in Barranquilla to record the video took place at the end of the carnival, reported Agencia EFE, in which Beéle participated as one of the guest stars.
