Hundreds of people came out Thursday in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to denounce “abuses” by immigration agents sent by President Donald Trump to the city on the second day of protests over the death of a U.S. woman after she was shot several times by a member of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“What do we want? When do we want ICE out, now? ICE out now! ICE out of town now!” they chanted at the beginning of the rally.
Protests against ICE in Minneapolis

The crowd blocked one of the intersections in downtown Minneapolis and after the speeches of members of the organizing organizations, they marched through the streets of the city, a few meters from where the event occurred, despite the rain and a sub-zero wind chill.
Last Wednesday, an ICE agent, identified by local media as Jonathan Ross, shot and killed Renee Good, a 37-year-old U.S. woman, as she maneuvered her vehicle in the middle of a raid she was attempting to block.
Justice for Renee Good
As we grieve the loss of one of our community members, we refuse to let this moment divide us. We demand that ICE leave our city. The harm caused by federal enforcement actions has no place in Minneapolis. pic.twitter.com/5wQYak4SkZ

“We want justice for her. We want ICE out of Minneapolis. We don’t need them. Our neighbors are not a threat, they are not people we need to fear. They are part of our community, the Mexicans, the Somalis. Everyone,” Clarissa, 19, who lives four blocks from where Good died, told EFE.
Those attending the protest denounced the presence of federal agents in the city as a threat to all of them, but especially to immigrants living in Minneapolis.
“I have neighbors who are irregular immigrants and can’t even go out on the street. I have been delivering food through a church to 10,000 families who are afraid to leave their homes. ICE has to go. Like our mayor said, get the hell out of Minneapolis!” demanded Elise, 70.
Throughout the march, proclamations against the federal body and against the Donald Trump Administration abounded.
As well as signs that read “fuck ICE” and flags such as the upside-down U.S. flag, traditionally used as a sign of grave danger to life, but increasingly common in anti-government protests.
“Let the full weight of the law fall” on the officer who fired the shots

Among other things, the protesters demanded that “the full weight of the law fall” on the officer who fired the shots, although the vice president, JD Vance, assured hours earlier in a press conference that he enjoys “absolute immunity”.
“A woman from our community was murdered in broad daylight right next to where we live. It’s disgusting that they can do something like that, that they can take a life like that,” said Kevin, 29.
“People want to say it was self-defense. Self-defense? She shot him point-blank in the face!” he added angrily trying to rebut the Trump administration’s argument, which alleges that the woman tried to run over the agent.
The president was the protagonist of many proclamations and banners that pointed to him as responsible for what happened for having deployed the troops in the city, despite the rejection of local and state leaders.
“America should be the best country, and it’s not. And the reason is Donald Trump. Because of him we are not a great country. He feeds racism and bigotry. That’s not good, and that’s what he’s dedicated to. These are my neighbors and we have to protect them. Minneapolis has always been good at that,” said Kylie, 24, who held a sign with Trump’s face on it that read “murderer.”
Two more shootings in Portland

In the midst of the march, one of the members of the convening organizations reported that two people were injured after being shot by another ICE agent in Portland, Oregon.
The news provoked a huge backlash among the protesters, who began to shout loudly proclamations and insults against the immigration agency.
“ICE out. Fuck ICE!” they chanted through the streets of Minneapolis.
The protest was carried out without any reported incidents with police officers or federal agents, who were not seen at any time during the protest.
