Mexican duo Sin Bandera is celebrating 25 years after its birth, in the midst of a world that is “designed to make you lose a little bit of yourself” and in which numbers “often take you away” from the art of songwriting, said the singers in an interview with EFE.
Without having a pessimistic view, Leonel García and Noel Schajris affirmed that the industry “pushes” you to link numbers with success, so they try to “return” to their essence of “enjoying what we are doing” and “educate the algorithm from our feelings”, respecting at all times their identity as a group.
This is the main lesson in their professional trajectory, both together and separately, and that now runs with their next joint tour ‘Escenas Tour’, in which they will tour different Latin American countries, as well as Mexico and the United States, focused on their followers enjoying their music “without clicks”.
Beyond a musical tour, Sin Bandera wants its public to see it as a celebration of the quarter century since its founding.

“We have that happiness of feeling that time passes, but it doesn’t pass in vain. It is an invaluable connection with the public through generations. It feels very nice,” they commented, noting that whenever they tour, their followers continue to “fill venues”.
And, as they explained, their music has been “accompanying our public in the different ages and stages” of their lives, from when they were young until they became parents, a circumstance that they described as “very nice” because it makes them stay connected to them, “now from another place”.
Within his musical style, the ballad genre stands out, and they doubt that he will enjoy “the sweetness of that other success that Latin music has”, since -they added- “historically” this music has triumphed in countries such as the United States when it is “rhythmic”.
“Let’s say that our place for the people of the United States, as Latino artists, is entertainment, fun. If you don’t entertain, we don’t care because that’s the space you should occupy,” they said.
Sin Bandera: Mexico, the place where they came from
On their American tour, Mexico has a prominent place with three concerts in Monterrey (February 27), Mexico City (March 6) and Guadalajara (March 7), since it is the country where they emerged as a group and from where “we went out into the world”, they pointed out when referring to their musical origins in the streets of Mexico City.
In the case of Noel Schajris, it is the country to which he came from his native Argentina in the summer of 1997, he recalled, with “a lot of desire, a suitcase and 600 dollars in his pocket”, and which allowed him to “fulfill so many dreams” and meet his “partner in music”.
“Mexico embraces me, makes me fulfill so many dreams and, obviously, brings me closer to meeting the one who has been for the last quarter of a century my musical companion and my partner in music. We have generated something very special,” he declared.

In all this time together, there was a period of seven years (from 2008 to 2015) in which they separated their professional paths, something that now, looking at it with perspective, they define as “necessary” and a “personal discovery” of the two singers to be able to take “a little distance”.
“It helped us to better understand where the band could go next. Because suddenly, when you don’t have this time to think or to feel, you start to have some confusion and problems to see the future of the band”, they remarked.
That pause served to remove “a lot of the chaff they had on their shoulders” and to conclude that they had to “go back to basics”, to what “brought us together in the first place”, reported Agencia EFE.
