Beginning of the relationship and marriage
Luis Fonsi and Adamari Lopez met in Mexico in 2001, when she was in a relationship with actor Mauricio Islas.
A year later, already single, Adamari attended a Fonsi concert in the United States, where they resumed contact and began a friendship that evolved into a romance in October 2002.
Two years later, in December 2004, the couple announced their engagement.
Cancer diagnosis and mutual support
