Tigres beat Nashville 1-0 on Tuesday with a goal by Argentine Ángel Correa in the first leg of the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, played in the United States.
The Tigers arrived in Nashville with a lesson well learned. Club America and Inter Miami had already settled for a 0-0 draw in the first leg at Geodis Park before Nashville eventually eliminated them in their own stadiums in the quarterfinals and round of 16, respectively.
Nashville pushes, but Guzman holds off Tigres

Still, Nashville dominated the start of the game, which began an hour late because of a thunderstorm.
After six minutes, a goal was disallowed for offside and Nahuel Guzmán became the main protagonist in goal for Tigres.
That local dominance lasted for the first half hour, until Guzmán pulled off a miraculous hand save to deny his compatriot Cristian Espinoza a 1-0 lead.
Right after, Tigres gave the first warning through the Argentine Juan Brunetta, whose shot was saved by goalkeeper Brian Schwake.
However, the Mexicans did not take long to score a goal (Filed under: Tigres beats Nashville).

Correa broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute with a left-footed shot that Schwake could do nothing about.
The Argentine caught the ball on the edge of the area after several bounces, controlled it with the sole of his foot and, after bouncing on the turf, struck it first time as it fell.
Tigres had another chance, with a header by Ozziel Herrera that tested Schwake’s reflexes.
Herrera was injured late in the first half, with Guido Pizarro gambling on not spending a turnover window as Nashville searched for an equalizer.
At the restart, Nashville went in search of an equalizer, but Tigres did not give up trying to add to its haul.
It was a back and forth (Filed under: Tigers beat Nashville).
Tigres takes key advantage

Guzmán and Schwake stood up as saviors for their two teams to keep the scoreboard from moving one way or the other.
But they shared the limelight with Ángel Correa, who has become a true beacon for the Tigers.

The 1-0 scoreline is a great result for the Mexican side, especially in a competition that continues to place double value on away goals.
Although Nashville has shown in Miami and at Aztec Stadium that it knows how to compete in tight playoffs away from home.
Tigres will host Nashville next Wednesday at El Volcán, in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León, for the second leg.
