The conflict between Belinda Peregrín and Lupillo Rivera exploded publicly when, on October 2, 2025, the singer filed a formal complaint before the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office for digital violence and media violence, according to information from her legal team.
The complaint is based on Articles 20 Quarter and 20 Quinquies of the General Law on Women’s Access to a Life Free of Violence, arguing that Lupillo allegedly disclosed intimate material and statements that violate her privacy without her consent.
As part of the precautionary measures, the Prosecutor’s Office granted Belinda legal protection: Lupillo was prohibited from approaching or communicating with her, the elimination of content published in networks that refers to the artist, and the abstention from making offensive or intimidating statements.

The statement from her legal team also points out that being a public figure does not justify exposing someone’s intimate life without their authorization.
The immediate origin of this complaint is linked to the publication of Lupillo’s autobiographical book, entitled Tragos Amargos, in which he recounts details about an alleged relationship with Belinda that allegedly occurred in 2019, when both coincided as coaches in La Voz México.
According to Belinda’s legal team, these disclosures and the dissemination of private images and communications, such as FaceTime screenshots, constitute an invasion of her privacy.
Lupillo Rivera’s official counter-suit against Belinda
In response to the complaint filed by Belinda, Lupillo Rivera responded on October 16, 2025 with a statement issued by his law firm, Grupo Beceiro Mexico, headed by attorneys Mariana Gutierrez and Alonso Beceiro. Said document announces that a “broad group of lawyers” has been formed to take appropriate legal action against Belinda.
The text states that the purpose of the counterclaim is to “clarify and clarify responsibilities derived from false and defamatory statements” that, according to Rivera, have affected his honor, public image and professional trajectory. The statement also affirms that all complaints and proceedings will be filed in strict compliance with the law and in defense of Lupillo’s rights. In addition, it reiterates its respect for the media, the public and the exercise of freedom of expression within legal and ethical limits.
In the same statement, Rivera’s team assured that the counterclaim has been officially filed before the Mexican authorities. It also emphasizes that Belinda’s complaint contains “false statements” and, according to the defense, could be configured as procedural fraud.

This legal confrontation occurs just days after Belinda denounced Lupillo. Some media report that the digital violence complaint was filed after Rivera made public fragments of their relationship in Tragos Amargos.
In previous statements, Belinda’s lawyer, Eduardo Osiel García, stated that Lupillo’s constant comments in the media and social networks and the publication of private communications were determinant to proceed legally.
He also warned that the book is already circulating and that it contains screenshots of video calls that, according to his defense, did not have consent for its dissemination.
At this time, Belinda has not issued a specific public response to Lupillo Rivera’s statement.
Both legal processes continue and the Mexican authorities must analyze the evidence presented by each party. The legal dispute highlights the tensions between the right to privacy, freedom of expression and the protection of public image in the entertainment industry.
