What was supposed to be a night of gala and journalism in Washington D.C. almost turned into a national tragedy. The Secret Service arrested a man Saturday who attempted to break into the annual White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner, where President Donald Trump, the first lady and the top brass of the U.S. government were in attendance.
Although there was initial secrecy, the suspect has now been identified as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old man with a profile that has perplexed authorities.
Who is Cole Tomas Allen?
The White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooter was armed with a shotgun, handgun, and multiple knives, according to DC police chief Jeffrey Carroll.
The shooter was identified as 31-year-old teacher Cole Allen from Torrance, California.

This is no ordinary criminal.
Cole Allen, a resident of Torrance, California, is described as a brilliant mechanical and computer engineer.
According to his LinkedIn profile and local media reports:
He is a graduate of the prestigious CalTech (California Institute of Technology).
He holds a master’s degree in Computer Science (2025) and completed an internship at NASA.
He worked as a science and mathematics teacher at C2 Education.
He defines himself as an independent video game developer.
Those who knew him, such as Dylan Wakayama of the Asian American Civic Trust, describe him as a “kind, quiet and very intelligent” person.
However, that “good citizen” profile was shattered when he tried to circumvent presidential security at full speed.

Trump himself shared images on his social network, Truth Social, showing Allen handcuffed on the ground.
In the security videos, the suspect is seen running towards the access control as Secret Service agents draw their weapons.
The hard fact: Trump confirmed that Allen went so far as to shoot one of the agents.
Fortunately, the bullet hit the bulletproof vest and the officer is out of danger.
The president described the attacker as a “madman” and a “lone wolf”, assuring that he never managed to break through the security perimeter where he dined with Melania and Vice President JD Vance.
Cole Tomas Allen was transported to a hospital for evaluation and now faces charges of firearms possession and assault.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro was blunt: “This individual intended to cause as much harm as possible.”
What about you Onnda, do you think security for presidential events should be even tighter or was it an impeccable response from the Secret Service?
