On Tuesday, November 18, Google launched its “smartest” AI model to date for users and developers in the United States, a tool capable of “reading the environment”, generating “interactive experiences” on any topic and which is “the world’s best model in multimodal understanding”. With this launch it seeks to overshadow OpenAI, the popular AI company that recently launched GPT-5, its most cutting-edge model.

“It’s cutting-edge reasoning technology designed to capture depth and nuance, whether it’s sensing the subtle clues in a creative idea or peeling back the overlapping layers of a difficult problem,” Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai notes in a statement.

The tech giant’s leader also points out that Gemini 3 is much better at “deciphering the context and intent” behind the user’s request, as it is a “multimodal by nature” model, meaning it can process text, images and audio simultaneously, rather than separately.

“It’s amazing to think that, in just two years, AI has evolved from simply reading text and images to reading the environment,” notes Pichai.

For the first time, Google is offering access to its new flagship AI model, Gemini 3 Pro, to all users from day one in the Gemini app.

Meanwhile, starting today, in the United States, Gemini 3’s intelligence will be included in AI Mode, as well as in the Gemini app, to developers in AI Studio and Vertex AI, and in a new agentic development platform, Google Antigravity.

The company points to this as the “world’s best model for multimodal understanding and its most powerful and versatile agentive and coding model.”

There are several versions of this new model: Gemini 3 Pro, available in preview version on the Gemini app, and Gemini 3 Deep Think, which will be available soon for Google AI Ultra subscribers.

Google stresses that the Gemini 3 model is a good tool for learning, which is why “all U.S. college students will receive a free year of Google AI Pro.”

The company explained to the press in a video conference that its AI is now capable of generating “interactive experiences” that can help users “facilitate learning” about any subject.

In addition, Gemini 3 Pro’s enhanced encoding capabilities allow it to generate better visualizations, the company added.
