In a week in which they have interspersed these setbacks with their qualification for the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, where they will face Toluca.
San Jose, on the other hand, tied the Vancouver Whitecaps at the top of the West with 21 points after their victory in the Californian duel that closed the eighth day of the MLS season.

From Europe to the United States

Timo Werner’s arrival in MLS came against a backdrop of career change and sustained growth in the U.S. league.
After spells at top European clubs such as RB Leipzig and Chelsea, the German striker was looking to regain prominence and continuity.
Something he did not always have in his last months in Europe.
San Jose Earthquakes saw a strategic opportunity in Werner:
Adding international experience, speed and offensive capabilities to their roster.
The club negotiated his incorporation, taking advantage of his contractual situation and the player’s interest in exploring a new competitive environment.
In addition, MLS continues to establish itself as an attractive destination for European stars, such as Timo Werner, not only because of the sporting aspect.
But also for the media projection and the U.S. market.
