The NBA announced Friday the defensive quintet for the 2025-2026 season, consisting of Victor Wembanyama, Chet Holmgren, Ausar Thompson, Rudy Gobert and Derrick White.
Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs) was unanimously chosen with a maximum of 200 points by a panel of 100 voters, followed by Holmgren (Oklahoma City Thunder) with 190 points and Thompson (Detroit Pistons) with 166. Rounding out the quintet were Gobert (Minnesota Timberwolves) with 151 points and White (Boston Celtics) with 146.
Wembanyama makes NBA history
Wembanyama had already been chosen as the best defender of the year, unanimously for the first time in history.
Taking over from compatriot Rudy Gobert, a four-time winner of that award (2018, 2019, 2021 and 2024).
