The judicial siege closes in on Havana’s leadership. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has shaken the geopolitical chessboard by filing a formal criminal indictment against Raul Castro. The charges are not minor: murder, conspiracy to kill Americans and destruction of aircraft.
A few days shy of his 95th birthday, Fidel Castro’s brother is facing an arrest warrant that could result in life imprisonment or death penalty. Here are the key facts about Raúl Castro, who has been charged.

The indictment alleges that, as Minister of the Armed Forces, Raul gave the direct order to pulverize the two civilian planes carrying three U.S. citizens and one legal resident.
2. The “Queen’s Exhibit”: The audio confession

A crucial piece of evidence supporting the case is a recording from June 1996.
In the audio, Raul Castro is allegedly heard admitting the order: “Throw them into the sea when they appear”.
This confession, coupled with the ICAO report confirming that the attack occurred in international waters, disproves the regime’s official version of an alleged violation of its airspace.
