Stop everything! The Mexican National Team has revealed its official call-up list for the 2026 World Cup and there is one name that has already engraved its name in gold letters: Guillermo Ochoa.
“Memo” Ochoa not only leads the group, but officially becomes the first player in history to attend six World Cups, leading a Tri team that mixes the experience of Qatar 2022 with the freshness of new naturalized players.
The “Vasco” takes a gamble: Injuries and important absences

Javier Aguirre has decided to take risks.
After the victory against Australia, the coach confirmed that he is confident in the recovery of key players such as Edson Álvarez, Luis Chávez, Santiago Giménez, “Chino” Huerta and Alexis Vega.
Although they are not at their best physical condition, Aguirre considers them vital for the debut against South Africa on June 11.
Unfortunately, Aguirre’s “laboratory” suffered three painful losses due to serious injuries: Luis Ángel Malagón, Rodrigo Huescas and Marcel Ruiz.
Marcel’s absence was particularly significant, as he had just won the Concachampions with Toluca, but the coaching staff preferred not to risk a relapse in the middle of the World Cup.
New blood and familiar faces

The list has everything.
There are 12 players from the previous process, but the great novelty lies in the naturalized players: Álvaro Fidalgo, the “Maguito” from Betis, and Julián Quiñones, the lethal striker from the Saudi league, who will be looking to provide that different spark that the fans have been asking for so much.
Aguirre’s plan is ambitious: win Group A so as not to leave the Azteca Stadium until the round of 16 and, once and for all, break the curse to reach the coveted fifth game (and why not, repeat the quarterfinals of 1970 and 1986).
