Dominican presenter and actress Clarissa Molina has expressed her deep sorrow and solidarity following the tragic loss of life in the collapse of the roof of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The incident, which occurred on April 8, 2025 during a performance by renowned merenguero Rubby Perez, resulted in the death of at least 221 people, including Perez himself, and left more than 200 injured.

“I was just sent an image of the late Rubby Perez (which I didn’t look at at all when I realized it quickly, I deleted it immediately, and I asked the person who sent it to me to do the same),” he continued.
“For the love of God, DON’T SHARE THAT IMAGE, NOT EVEN IN PRIVATE CHAT GROUPS, NO! EVERY FAMILY DESERVES RESPECT! EVERYONE!” wrote Clarissa Molina.

Details of the tragedy
The Jet Set discotheque, an emblematic establishment in Santo Domingo, was full at the time of the collapse, with an estimated attendance of between 500 and 1,000 people.
The roof suddenly gave way around 1:00 a.m., trapping numerous attendees under the debris, including singer Rubby Perez who was performing a show at the time of the tragedy.
Among the fatalities were prominent figures such as former Major League Baseball players Octavio Dotel and Tony Blanco, as well as the governor of Monte Cristi, Nelsy Cruz.
Response from the authorities
The President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, declared three days of national mourning and visited the disaster site to supervise the rescue efforts and offer support to the affected families.
Rescue operations involved more than 400 rescuers who worked tirelessly to locate and assist survivors.
