Gun violence once again struck the police community in the United States. The North Las Vegas Police Department (NLVPD) reported that its traffic division building was shot at twice in the same week, a fact that has generated alarm among local authorities and citizens.

Two shootings in the same building

The first attack occurred on Monday, when unknown persons shot at the facade of the building.

Just three days later, on the night of Wednesday, September 17, a second shooting was recorded at the same headquarters.

According to the official report, investigators found several bullet impacts on the south side of the building.

Although the shootings left no casualties, they did cause material damage to infrastructure, which is of concern because of the evident intention to intimidate law enforcement.

The NLVPD noted that several lines of investigation have already been opened and asked for the community’s cooperation in identifying those responsible.

“We need the help of our residents to bring the culprits to justice,” a department spokesman said.

Context of armed violence

The attacks in Nevada are not isolated events.

The same week, in the state of Pennsylvania, another tragic episode was recorded.

Three officers were killed and two were seriously injured while serving a warrant in York County.

The suspect in the attack committed suicide at the scene, leaving open questions about the motives for the attack.

These cases add to the growing statistics of gun violence in the country.

According to data from the Gun Violence Archive, in 2025 the United States has already surpassed the 450 mass shootings recorded so far this year.

This has a particular impact on communities where schools, workplaces and public agencies are located.

Attacks on police building in Nevada

For the Latino community residing in Nevada, where the percentage of Hispanics exceeds 30% of the population, the facts generate a double concern.

On the one hand, safety in their neighborhoods, and on the other, trust in police institutions that are often viewed with distance by immigrant families.

The NLVPD emphasized that, despite the attacks, the operation of the department has not been interrupted and the attention to the public is maintained, especially in traffic and road safety issues.

However, they reinforced surveillance measures around the facilities.

Local authorities reiterated that anyone with information about the shootings can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 702-385-5555.

Community collaboration will be key to clarifying whether the attacks on the police building in Nevada were motivated by an act of retaliation against the police, or whether it was an attempt to generate fear among residents.
