The social network Instagram launched Rings, awards that will recognize the creators of its platform that hosts more than three billion monthly active users.

“Introducing Rings: an Instagram award that celebrates those who aren’t afraid to take creative risks and do things their own way,” the social network posted on its profile this Monday.

These prizes will only be awarded to 25 people who will get a physical ring designed by English fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner, as well as a unique digital gold ring for their Instagram profile and stories, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Winners will span topics and content categories, from fashion or makeup to sports and entertainment, and will be chosen by a panel that includes Instagram head Adam Mosseri, filmmaker Spike Lee, designer Marc Jacobs and youtuber Marques Brownlee.

The judges behind Rings, launched by Instagram.

According to the publication, the judges worked with Instagram’s own teams of creators to narrow the list “from billions to millions to millions to thousands to hundreds,” before choosing the 25 winners.

These rewards come after Meta, the company that owns this social network, ended its Reels Bonus Play bonus program on Instagram and Facebook in 2023.

According to national media, these awards come as a symbolic incentive to the work of the creators rather than a direct economic support.

“It’s more about special visibility and kind of an incentive for people to work to get really interesting high recognition,” influencer Brownlee told CNBC, Agencia EFE reported.
