Andrea Bocelli to open the 2026 Winter Olympic Games

Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will perform at the opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, to be held on February 6 at the Giuseppe Meazza(San Siro) Stadium in Milan, northern Italy.

“Recognized worldwide for his mastery of Italian music, the tenor will bring his voice to the stage of the San Siro for the Olympic Opening Ceremony,” the organization said in a statement issued Sunday, in which they defined the tenor as “a symbol of Italian excellence around the world.”

Bocelli will share the spotlight with American singer Mariah Carey, author of the Christmas hit ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You.

It was announced in December as the star of the event.

This will be the tenor’s return to the stage of an Olympic event, after his participation in the closing ceremony of the Turin 2006 Winter Olympic Games.

In addition, Bocelli has performed at other major sporting events.

Such as the opening of the 2016 Champions League final in Milan, in the same stadium where he will now perform, or the opening ceremony of Euro 2021 in Rome.

Olympic torch travels through Italy on its way to Milan

The flame of sport arrived in Italy on December 4 and since December 6 it has been traveling by torch throughout Italy until it arrives in Milan on February 5.

One day before the opening ceremony where the official cauldron of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be lit.

Although the official opening is scheduled for February 6, some disciplines will begin two days before the opening ceremony, on February 4.

The finale is scheduled for February 22.
