The NFL’ s Baltimore Ravens announced Tuesday that John Harbaugh, who led them to win Super Bowl XLVII, is stepping down as their head coach after 18 seasons.

The Ravens fired John Harbaugh after they lost the battle for the American Conference West division championship in last Sunday’s final game of the season to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a loss that knocked them out of the playoffs.

In his time in Baltimore, the coach led the team to two American Conference titles, a Super Bowl and six divisional titles.

John Harbaugh was named coach of the year in 2019.

Between 2008 and 2025 they had 180 wins and 113 losses; in playoffs their record was 13-11.

These records make the 63-year-old coach a future Hall of Famer and an attractive option for teams looking for a coach for the upcoming season.

John Harbaugh was the third coach in the history of the Baltimore Ravens, who were founded in 1996 under the direction of Ted Marchibroda, their first coach.

He coached them until the 1998 campaign; the second was Brian Billick, who led the team from 1999 to 2007.
