Spanish actress Ester Expósito debuted this Sunday at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York with the psychological thriller ‘Dante’, a new milestone in her decade-long film and television career, in which she dreams of taking “the reins” with her own projects, she told EFE.
Expósito (Madrid, 2000) plays the role of a “neighborhood aunt, a punk,” named Mac, alongside an all-star cast headed by Chino Darín, Vicente Romero, Isak Férriz and Asier Etxeandia in the second film by Spanish filmmaker Hugo Ruiz, an “independent work, a bit ‘kinky and punky,'” as he described it today on the red carpet.
“It’s always nice to do, bet and trust in this type of project and that it works out well and you can present at a festival like Tribeca, which is also the first American festival. It’s very exciting,” said the actress.
“I think people are going to enjoy seeing me so different in every way,” maintained the performer, who first appeared on the small screen in 2016, with roles in the series ‘Vis a vis’ and ‘Centro médico’, and rose to fame with ‘Élite’ (2018-2020) in the role of the sensual, rich and liberal schoolgirl Carla Rosón.
Since then, the also model, brand image and queen of social networks has not stopped, harvesting a dozen titles for the seventh art under her arm and putting herself under the orders of filmmakers such as Jaume Balagueró (‘Venus’), Pedro Martín-Calero (‘El llanto’) and, more recently, Polo Menárguez (‘El talento’).
“Always, since I was a child, what I never lacked was desire and determination,” reflected Expósito on the qualities that have allowed her to maintain her upward trajectory.
“This was the one thing I’ve always wanted to do. It was always clear to me, and I think that’s what made things happen so soon, right? And to be lucky enough to be able to work so much, so young, from such a young age,” he added.

Looking to the future, the actress answers resolutely about where she sees herself in another ten years: “I would like to be raising my own projects, my own stories. I don’t know if directing, or just producing and acting, and writing them, maybe”.
“Taking the reins a little bit, rather than waiting to see who comes along. Being myself a little bit the one who creates my universe,” she summed up.
Expósito said he continues to fall in love with cinema, an art in which he shares the fascination of other colleagues for the “magic” of “having many lives” and not having to devote himself to a single job, since he has to train for each character, whether learning ballet, horseback riding or wrestling, he said.
For the moment, Expósito adds another title to her resume with Ruiz, whom she considered an “incredible” director and with whom she will sit down for a discussion tonight after the premiere of ‘Dante’ at a movie theater in Manhattan’s East Village, where a dozen media were waiting for her upon her arrival and where she posed with ease.
“She is an incredible actress who, in addition, is the first to arrive, the last to leave, knows the text…. In other words, she is a true professional and a marvel,” said the filmmaker, who, according to Agencia EFE, was delighted that she, who “can practically do whatever she wants,” threw herself wholeheartedly into his new project.
