The presence of Mexico’ s Fátima Bosch Fernández in Costa Rica generated a great deal of conversation on social networks, although this time it was not related to her role as Miss Universe 2025 or to any activity in the world of beauty pageants. The young woman from Tabasco captured the public’s attention for a deeply personal gesture that many interpreted as a sign of devotion and gratitude.
During his stay in the Central American country, Bosch visited the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels, one of the most important temples in Costa Rica. There he made a tour on his knees until he reached the main altar, a religious practice that is part of a centuries-old tradition deeply rooted among the Costa Rican faithful.
The images of the moment were quickly shared by attendees and social media users, provoking thousands of reactions and comments of admiration from the beauty queen’s followers.
Fátima Bosch and her act of faith : The tradition of “La Negrita”.
The act performed by Fátima Bosch has a deep meaning within the Costa Rican religious culture. The Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels, located in the city of Cartago, receives every year thousands of pilgrims who come to pay homage to the image popularly known as “La Negrita”.
According to tradition, this small stone figure was found in 1635 and since then it has become one of the most important religious symbols of the country. As a sign of faith, gratitude or personal petition, many believers walk through part of the sanctuary on their knees before reaching the altar.
Bosch decided to join this practice during his visit, generating an image that quickly transcended Costa Rica’s borders and was widely commented on in digital media.

Throughout her reign as Miss Universe, Fatima Bosch has openly shown the importance of faith in her personal life. In various interviews, publications and public appearances she has shared messages related to her religious beliefs.
One of the expressions she has used the most is “Long live Christ the King”, a phrase that historically has a strong symbolic charge in Mexico and that the model has incorporated in different occasions as part of her personal message.
His interest in religious spaces has also been reflected during his international travels. In recent months he visited several temples and places of spiritual importance, among them the emblematic St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York.
People close to his team have also indicated that one of his wishes was to visit the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico during his reign, although the intense international agenda has made it difficult to realize some personal plans.
Between international commitments and personal challenges
The agenda of a Miss Universe is usually marked by constant travel, charity events, public appearances and promotional activities around the world. In the case of Fatima Bosch, her calendar has been especially active since she won the crown.
However, the reign has not been free of complicated moments. One of the most commented episodes occurred in February 2026 during an official visit to Ambato, Ecuador.
On that occasion, the Mexican suffered a fainting spell while participating in a parade. Reports released at that time indicated that the incident was related to the accumulated physical exhaustion, the demanding workload and the altitude conditions of the city.

Fortunately, the young woman received immediate medical attention and was able to recover satisfactorily, resuming her official activities a few days later.
A gesture that connects with thousands of people
Beyond her role as a beauty queen, Fatima Bosch’s kneeling tour allowed many followers to get to know a more personal side of the Mexican model.
For some, the act represented a show of humility and gratitude; for others, it was an expression of the importance that spirituality continues to have in the lives of many public figures.
The truth is that the scene managed to generate conversation and connect emotionally with thousands of people. In the midst of an international agenda full of commitments, Bosch’s visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels showed that, behind the crown and the spotlight, there is also a young woman who finds in faith an important part of her identity and her personal journey.
