Actress and singer Hilary Duff will star in the series ‘Pretty Ugly’, based on the novel of the same name by Kirker Butler that follows the story of a mother obsessed with child beauty pageants, reports specialized media Deadline.
In the Hulu series, Duff will play Miranda Miller, a woman who will do everything she can to make her 10-year-old daughter Bailey the most successful child beauty pageant contestant in the United States, according to the U.S. publication.
Bailey, for her part, is not interested in her mother’s plans, as she is exhausted from the practices she has been a part of since she was three months old.
Hilary Duff’s big return to television

However, Miranda, a former beauty queen as a teenager, has no plans to stop: she is now pregnant with another child, whose pageant career is already beginning to plan.
Duff, best known for her character of Lizzie McGuire on the Disney Channel series of the same name, will executive produce the series which is being written by Butler.
More recently the singer also starred in ‘How I Met Your Father’, the Hulu series that revisits the format of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ to tell how the protagonists met the father or mother of their children and also starred in the TV comedy ‘Younger’.
