Isaac Paredes continues to make his mark in the Major Leagues, as the Mexican-born Houston Astros player reached 500 MLB hits during his team’s 2-0 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers at Daikin Park, a mark that confirms his place among the most productive Mexican-born hitters in U.S. baseball history.
The Hermosillo, Sonora, native reached that number in his seventh season in the majors, after debuting in 2020 with the Detroit Tigers and also spending time with the Tampa Bay Rays and the Chicago Cubs before joining Houston.

The 500th hit came in the bottom of the fourth inning.
When Paredes hit a line drive to left field off Milwaukee right-hander Jacob Misiorowski’s pitches.
Although the result did not favor the Astros, the hit had a special value for the Mexican.
Who has built his career on plate discipline, occasional power and a remarkable ability to adapt to different teams and roles in the box.
Isaac Paredes needed just over 600 games to reach 500 MLB hits.
This is an important figure for any Latin player and especially significant in Mexican baseball, where few players have managed to sustain themselves for so many years at the highest level.
A Mexican among historic names

With his 500 hits, Isaac Paredes joined the group of the 10 Mexican-born players with the most hits in the history of Major League Baseball.
The historical list is headed by Vinicio Castilla, Jorge Orta, Aurelio Rodríguez and Beto Ávila.
The only Mexicans who have surpassed 1,000 hits in MLB.
Below are names such as Melo Almada, Alex Treviño, Juan Gabriel Castro, Erubiel Durazo and Rubén Amaro Sr.
For Paredes, the next objective is very close:
Reach and surpass Rubén Amaro Sr., who finished his career with 505 hits.
He could then point to Erubiel Durazo, another Sonoran who recorded 547 hits in the Major Leagues.

Paredes, an important piece for Houston

At 27 years of age, Isaac Paredes is still at a key stage of his career.
His profile combines power, patience at bat and defensive versatility, qualities that keep him as an important option in Houston’s lineup.
With close to 100 homers and more than 300 RBIs in his career, the Sonoran has room to continue climbing among the best Mexicans who have played in MLB.
If he remains healthy and consistent, Isaac Paredes could soon surpass several compatriots on the all-time hits list.
