Javier Aguirre, Mexico’s coach, said he will take advantage of the friendly match against Ghana this Friday to observe all the players he has in the training camp ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
“I asked for a match with many changes because I need to see everyone. I need to see everyone, but without being disrespectful to the fans, I will try to use everyone who has been training with us, even the so-called sparring partners,” said the coach.
Confirms key movements

Javier Aguirre spoke before the match against Ghana a few days before making his debut in the World Cup on June 11.
The coach pointed out the importance of taking advantage of the match against Ghana to observe players such as Edson Álvarez, Luis Chávez and Jorge Sánchez, who joined the national team’s training camp this week.
“Edson comes very recovered from his ankle injury, he will play this game.”
“Luis Chávez arrived well, I will also take him into account, although I don’t think he will play a lot of minutes”.
“Jorge is fine, Orbelín Pineda seems to me to be arriving tonight; we’ll try to ensure that everyone is active, although we’ll dose them.
“César Montes is ruled out due to a minor muscle problem,” he said.

Javier Aguirre, former coach of Atletico Madrid, accepted that he does not expect his players to give their best performance against Ghana.
“It will be complicated to have a great collective performance, I hope that on an individual level they give me what I expect from them.”
“Tactically, we are making individual videos in the absence of soccer, but everyone is assimilating the way the game is played. This training camp has been very useful,” he said.
Aguirre also spoke about Colombian naturalized Mexican citizen Julián Quiñones.
Earlier in the day, he scored a hat-trick for his team Al-Qadisiyah to become the top scorer in Saudi soccer.

“It was fantastic. We all watched with great pride Hugo Sanchez’s achievements in Spain in the past.”
“And now Julian repeats this story of being a champion scorer; that is a source of pride, he is a great boy, a great professional.
“He deserves it and hopefully he will bring us a lot of things,” he concluded.
After facing Ghana, Javier Aguirre’s El Tri will face Australia on May 30 in Pasadena, California.
They will close their preparation on June 4 against Serbia in Toluca, State of Mexico.
The Mexican National Team will make its World Cup debut at the Azteca Stadium on June 11 against South Africa.
