The Mexican Soccer Federation is already beginning to plan the future of the Mexican National Team beyond the 2026 World Cup and one of the names that would continue to have weight within the project is that of Javier Aguirre.
>Although the current coach of El Tri has previously stated that he does not intend to continue coaching after the World Cup to be hosted by Mexico, the United States and Canada, the FMF would seek to keep him within the sporting structure with a high-level strategic position.

According to information revealed around the Mexican National Team, the plan is for Rafael Márquez to officially take over as national technical director once the 2026 World Cup concludes. Currently, the historic former Mexican defender is part of Aguirre’s coaching staff and has been prepared as one of the most important bets of the Federation to lead the process towards the 2030 World Cup.

Although Javier Aguirre will leave the Mexican National Team after the World Cup, the FMF intends to offer him the position of director of the High Performance Center.

One of the most important areas for the sports development of Mexican national teams.

This position would have a fundamental weight in sports decision-making.

Buzzy would oversee projects related to all national categories, from youth national teams to the senior national team.

The idea would be to take advantage of the international experience of Aguirre, who has coached in Europe, Asia and different World Cup processes with Mexico.

Another name that could remain in the new process is Pol Llorente, one of Javier Aguirre’s most trusted men.

His work within the current coaching staff has been well valued and Rafael Márquez would be interested in keeping him within the national project.

The continuity of important pieces within the sporting structure reflects that the Mexican Federation seeks to avoid drastic changes after the 2026 World Cup and build a more orderly transition.
