Australian police are investigating an alleged sexual assault reported by Australian actress Ruby Rose against American singer Katy Perry, which allegedly occurred in a nightclub in Melbourne (South Australia) in 2010.
Authorities in the state of Victoria confirmed Wednesday that they have opened an investigation into an incident at a downtown Melbourne venue in 2010, without providing further details because the case is still ongoing.
The investigation comes after Rose claimed on social media that Perry sexually assaulted her when they were both young, in an episode that, according to the actress, took years for her to be able to process and make public.
Rose recounted on her Threads account Monday that when she was in her early 20s (she’s now 40), the singer saw her resting on her best friend’s lap.
Perry “bent over, pulled down her underwear and rubbed her disgusting vagina in my face until my eyes popped open and I squirted vomit all over her,” explained the actress, known for her work in series such as ‘Orange is the New Black’ or ‘Batwoman’.

“I told the story publicly, but changed it to a ‘funny drunk anecdote’ because I didn’t know how to handle it any other way,” said the actress, who acknowledged that Perry later helped her obtain her U.S. visa.
In a statement sent to Variety magazine, Perry’s representative rejected the allegations and assured that Rose “has a well-documented history of making serious public accusations on social media against various individuals, allegations that have been repeatedly denied by those involved.”
In a social media post on Tuesday night, the Australian actress confirmed that she has formally filed complaints with authorities in connection with the case.
The interpreter explained that, from now on, she will not be able to comment, share or make public statements about the facts or the people involved, in compliance with police instructions, reported Agencia EFE.
