Earlier, in 2023, Marco Verde won gold at the Pan American Games in Santiago and the Central American Games in San Salvador.

The son of former Olympic boxer Manuel Verde, a competitor in Barcelona 1992, Marco has a strong pugilistic heritage.

He decided to turn professional shortly after the Games, under the representation of Eddy Reynoso’s team, the same one that manages Canelo Alvarez.
