Meryl Streep and Vogue global editorial director Anna Wintour star on the fashion magazine’s May cover as part of the promotion for the second installment of‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ in which the actress brings Miranda Priestly, a powerful British-inspired fashion magazine editor, to life.

The award-winning performer and the also global chief content officer of magazine publisher Condé Nast, who a few months ago passed the baton to Chloe Malle as editor of the U.S. edition of Vogue, were interviewed by Greta Gerwig, an actress and film director who worked with Streep on ‘Little Women’ (2019).
“It’s such an honor to have Meryl play my role, as different as Miranda is from myself – who wouldn’t find that the most extraordinary gift?” stated Wintour in the interview.
Both talked about the new film, about power, women references and about age; both are 76 years old.

Also about ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, which returns 20 years after the first film was released and reunites its cast: Anne Hathaway, as Andy Sachs, Miranda’s assistant; Emily Blunt, as Emily Charlton; and Stanley Tucci, as Nigel Kiplin.
Streep said in the interview that when she had to reprise the character of Miranda Priestly, she thought of Wintour and tried to imagine “what it would be like to carry her responsibility and feel the same interest in the world and the same curiosity that she must have had.”
In addition to the interview, Streep and Wintour shot a video for social media mimicking the classic elevator scene from the first installment of the film.
This is not the first time that Wintour joins the promotion of the film. At the last Oscar gala, the editor presented an award alongside Hathaway replicating the relationship Miranda and Andy have at the beginning of the first film.
The Devil Wears Prada 2′ is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 1, reported Agencia EFE, a few days before the Met Gala, which appears in the film’s trailer and is hosted by Wintour.
