Jaafar Jackson, nephew of Michael Jackson, demonstrated in the first images of the biopic he stars in about his uncle that he is able to perfectly emulate the iconic dance steps of the ‘King of Pop’.
Just over a minute of footage serves to confirm that Jaafar Jackson, 29, son of Jermaine Jackson, is the worthy heir to the family saga.
A Colombian-American (his mother is from Bogota), Jackson makes his acting debut in this film, directed by Antoine Fuqua, which will hit theaters on April 24, 2026, according to a statement from Universal Pictures on Thursday.

The first images of this long-awaited film show a young Michael Jackson in a recording studio with Quincy Jones while playing ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ one of the greatest hits of the legendary album ‘Thriller’ (1982).

In the trailer you can see Jaafar Jackson transformed into his uncle in various moments, from performances in large stadiums to the video clip of ‘Thriller’, or doing the famous ‘moonwalk’ dance step on stage.
Joining Jaafar Jackson are Kendrick Sampson as Quincy Jones; Miles Teller as Jackson’s lawyer and advisor John Branca; Colman Domingo as the patriarch, Joe Jackson; Nia Long as his mother, Katherine Jackson; Jessica Sula as his sister LaToya Jackson, Larenz Tate as Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, or Kat Graham as Diana Ross.

“Michael’ is “the big-screen portrait of the life and legacy of one of the most influential artists the world has ever known,” Universal highlights in the release.
The film shows Michael Jackson’s discovery of his talent as leader of the Jackson Five to his conversion “into a visionary star whose creative ambition sparked a tireless drive to become the entertainment industry’s greatest icon,” reported Agencia EFE.
