Minneapolis Catholic school shooting

Minneapolis police reported that the attacker was dressed in black and armed with a rifle.
The attacker allegedly committed suicide shortly after shooting himself, police sources told ABC, according to Efe news agency.
The operation involved not only local agents, but also the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCA), the State Patrol, the FBI and the ATF.
The magnitude of the deployment reflects the seriousness with which the case was treated.
Authorities react with alarm

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz lamented the attack and sent a message on his networks:
“I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence.”
Minutes after the incident, President Donald Trump said he had been informed of the incident and assured that the FBI “responded quickly and is present on the scene.”
“Please join me in praying for all those involved,” he added.
For his part, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey assured that the city’s emergency response team was activated.
Frey asked neighbors to stay away from the area so as not to hinder the work of the agents.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that her agency is closely monitoring the case and coordinating with state and local authorities.
Context of violence in Minneapolis

The Annunciation school shooting comes amid a wave of gun violence affecting the city.
In the 24 hours prior to this attack alone, three more shootings were reported in Minneapolis, resulting in at least three dead and eight wounded.
This scenario has intensified the debate about safety in schools and community life.
For many Hispanic families in and around Minneapolis, the attack generates fear and uncertainty, especially because it took place in a Catholic institution, a space very close to the cultural and religious identity of the Latino community.
Experts recommend that parents talk to their children about what happened, stay calm and be attentive to official information from the school district and the church.
In addition, it is expected that the parish and local organizations will soon activate emotional support networks to accompany the affected families.
